You've decided to start your board certified behavior analyst (BCBA) fieldwork. You've signed a supervision contract, and now you are starting the long journey to obtaining your 2,000 hours. Along the way, you need to grab at least 1,200 unrestricted hours and 100 supervised hours, unless you are doing concentrated hours. You have put together a plan and accounted for common pitfalls. Now you just need to document your hours and stick to your plan. Fortunately, you have plenty of choices when it comes to trackers. This blog will outline just a few that I am aware of.

BCBA Hour Tracker

I am biased, but I built BCBA Hour Tracker to help solve a problem I saw over and over again: BCBA candidates struggling to plan their fieldwork in a way that allowed them to finish in the time they wanted. I saw too many people make common mistakes, such as focusing too much on restricted hours or misunderstanding concentrated fieldwork requirements. Fieldwork is hard enough, and I wanted to provide every BCBA candidate with a tool that created an adaptive, month-by-month plan that plainly told them how many unrestricted and supervised hours they needed to complete to finish their fieldwork on their timeline. It also stores all your documentation in the cloud and generates your monthly fieldwork verification form with a single button click. BCBA Hour Tracker is $4.99 a month or $54.99 a year, and it comes with a 30-day free trial. While I think BCBA Hour Tracker is a great tool, it isn't the only one, and I wanted to highlight a few of the alternatives that exist today.

Ripley Fieldwork Tracker

Ripley Fieldwork Tracker is the original online fieldwork tracker. Before this tool, most BCBA candidates were using spreadsheets to track their hours, which was difficult and prone to errors. Ripley has a number of features, such as the ability to document your hours, get a monthly summary, and view your progress. Ripley also has an ad-supported tier.

Tracker!

Tracker! is a new fieldwork tracker that is done in collaboration with Study Notes ABA. It is fairly new, and I admittedly do not know much about it. Tracker! can document and store your hours, track your progress, store your forms, and keeps up with how much of the BCBA task list you are getting experience with. Tracker! is $9.99 a month, $110 a year, or $250 for a lifetime subscription, and it comes with a 7-day free trial.

Spreadsheets

If you do not want to use an online tool, there are also many spreadsheet-based trackers you can use. You can find them on Teachers Pay Teachers for a flat fee. You can also build your own spreadsheet tracker. Just make sure that you include all of the required information, as spelled out in the BCBA Handbook.

Conclusion

Fortunately for you, there are plenty of choices out there for BCBA fieldwork trackers. The important thing is to pick one and start focusing on finishing your hours. After all, every minute saved on documentation is another minute you can use toward your fieldwork. Click here to get started tracking your fieldwork hours.
